Receives Validation for
Oracle® Warehouse Builder
RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA—December 6,
2004—Melissa Data, a leading provider of data quality software and
services, today announced that Address Validator, a data-cleansing
solution, has been approved by Oracle Corp. for Oracle® Warehouse
Builder. Melissa Data was also named a partner in the Oracle
PartnerNetwork.
Address Validator for Oracle Warehouse Builder is a simple plug-in that
allows Oracle Warehouse Builder users to cleanse, validate and
standardize name and address data that is critical to an enterprise.
Address Validator for Oracle Warehouse Builder verifies and corrects any
U.S. address; appends ZIP+4 Codes using Melissa Data’s CASS-certified
validation technology; standardizes addresses to U.S. Postal Service
specifications; and provides latitude/longitude coordinates and other
geographic information such as county names.

The combined Oracle Warehouse Builder and Address Validator solution can
also be used to discover the gender makeup of contacts in a database.
Address Validator splits a full name into five components and appends a
gender code using a database of more than 12,000 multi-ethnic first
names.
Bad data is a billion-dollar problem, according to The Data Warehouse
Institute. The costs can be measured in lost sales, customer complaints,
customer defection, higher postage and returns fees, duplicate labor,
and fraud. But with clean, verified data organizations will see lower
operational costs, happier customers, and more respect for their brands.
The source data files for validation consist of the U.S. Postal Service
database of 150 million deliverable addresses. Canadian postal data
provided by Canada Post can also be purchased for Address Validator. The
data files are provided bi-monthly.
